I.O.U.

We arrived in New York in the afternoon yesterday.  Lunch, a run for baby essentials, and a birthday visit with Aunt Duckie (my sister Ellen) constituted the better part of our day.  Of course I'm not going into the gory details of rooms being torn apart top to bottom, trips to the attic in search of special treats, or boys wandering around the house at all hours of the night soaking in the thrill of being in all new digs - with unlimited nooks and crannies worth exploring.

But, we're in New York.  I can't in my good conscience travel all the way to New York and have the most creative thing I report on be about the centerpiece at last night's dinner.

I'm requesting an I.O.U.  That is to say, I want some more time.  Here's what I am proposing. Rather than conform to the scheduled Saturday morning post, I will use Saturday to survey the city for some of the most creative things I see.  Then, I will make my post sometime on Sunday.

Leave a message letting me know you're out there and be in the running to win an "I Love N.Y." t-shirt.  For some added fun, consider typing in New York lingo.  If we can talk like pirates, surely we can talk like New Yawkers.

That's it.  Signing off until later tomorrow...

One fine day I tried to grab a cab to get to the corner of Broadway and 5th. I knew I wasn't going to be in town long and wanted to see if the Upper West Side had changed any since my last visit. But then as the cab was traveling in gridlock I saw a couple of girls that were the East Village Type. I think they were standing on line to get a Two fer... or maybe, the line was so long they were trying to grab a slice. I don't know. I decided to tell my cabbie Xhisnska to drop me off at Bloomie's instead. I ended my day with a stroll through the scenic Central Park and thought about Meg Ryans meeting with Tom Hanks, was that in the Chrysler Building or the Empire State? In a New York minute my day was done and I knew the Big Apple that never sleeps would go on, with out me.

I'm not sure what language Lily is typing in but it made me laugh!

I love NY. But then, who doesn't? One of my favorite movies that was filmed in NY is You've Got Mail- another Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan movie. :) :sigh:

Have a fun trip!

Cassie P....Im still trying to understand why southerners say things like

Imma fixin to.....
or
Have at it.......

an when did Y'all become better than you all?

Anyway I could care less how we sound this is where my heart is and unfortunately I am not apt to change....

people from NY have different dialects we DONT all sound like we are from BROOKLYN....... Or STATEN ISLAND.....

Im from Queens and my kids make fun of me because they were raised on Long Island ... meanwhile we live 8 miles from Queens....

Not sure how to talk like a New Yorker, but I definitely heart New York! The center of the theatre world... how can I resist?? And I love, love, love Ray's pizza-- pepperoni and bacon is my favorite. Wish I were there!

I've never been to NYC...but would LOVE to. I've done Buffalo but that's not "real" NY.

I have no idea how to "speak" New York. Give me a southern accent anytime.
Hope ya'll are having a great visit, Claudia. I've been thinking about it since our talk the other day.
Hugs! Susan

Hope you are enjoying your New York visit....I have been there 3 times...once with you, once with Cindy Metzger and once with the family after 911. It is always fun to visit...love to people watch! As fun as it is I'd take AZ any day! Too cold during fall and winter for my blood and too humid during the rest of the year!
Plus we in AZ have no funny accent!
Do you still have your I love LA/NY picture? That was way cool!
