Good morning, everyone.
Last night was a historic event in our nation's history and I feel privileged to have been a part of it. Regardless of whether your candidate won, we must all acknowledge how lucky we are to live in a country where we have a voice and can choose our leaders.
I would also like to note a point that's been made a few times on t.v. Red and blue, when combined, makes purple. Purple... the same color as our friend, Ray's, boots. I like the coincidence of this and hope it serves as a symbol of Highlowaha's ability to be in community - regardless of political affiliation. Let our interest in creativity serve as the thing that binds us together.
As for the Blog-a-thon to start later this morning. Below are some important points to know.
- Start Time: The Blog-a-thon begins at 10:00 a.m. CST and will be under the cover a new post. I will put it up at exactly 10:00 CST.
- Writing Relay: Blog-a-thoners will participate in a Writing Relay. This means we will co-author a progressive scary story. Person #1 starts. Person #2 builds on the work of person #1. Person #3 builds on the work of person #2, and on and on.
- Comment Section: If you are not participating in the Blog-a-thon, please DO NOT post in the comment section of the post! We are trying to keep the story running, without interruption.
- 15-minute Blocks of Time: Blog-a-thoners are each signed up for a 15-minute block of time. They do not need to write for the entire time, they must simply be on the blog for 15 minutes (I suggest using some of the time to read what the person before you has written).
- BE TIMELY: Blog-a-thoner, PLEASE be timely! If you post late, you will throw off the schedule!
- Have FUN! Remember to have fun with this. Our Helping Hand family is a worthy cause, in addition to this being a fun exercise in creativity!
- JUMP IN: Didn't sign up, but want to participate (or, want to claim an additional time)? Jump right in. Below is a list of times that nobody is currently signed up. It's helpful if you tell me (make a post here or email me at cbeeny@lslog.com), so I can assure that two people aren't simultaneously writing at the same time.

I am so proud to call myself American today. Like Claudia said, despite who your candidate was, we're all Americans and this is our time to stop being republican or democrat, red or blue.
I'll be back later tonight for my time slot!
I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free
God Bless the USA!!
Okay, it will be nice to focus on positive things around us and do the best with what we have.
Where is some juicy Hollywood gossip, who's going to the Superbowl.... has everybody been naughty or not so nice? What can we be thankful for! 2009 is just around the corner!! Have you seen all the cookie pictures on the women's magazines at the check outs? Who's found anything in a $1 bin??
Love all your questions, Peggy! Just yesterday I was thinking it would be fun to have an ongoing segment about items in the Target $1 bin.
Right now they are featuring small holiday containers that can be used to package up small, thoughtful treats for teachers, the post office worker, the garbage man or woman, and anyone else to whom you want to spread holiday cheer.
Cassie P, took the 6:30 time slot for the Blog-a-thon
I, too, am filled with pride and hope this morning. To think that we and our children were witness to a momentous election yesterday. What a wonder to be a small part of making history.
I love the Target $1 bins!! Rebecca really loves to hit the bins and almost always finds something to spend her money on.
