Calm Before the Storm

Yes, this is it.  Today marks the beginning of Pen Pal Weekend!  I have been anticipating this day for almost a year.  It was last June when I connected up two very special girls as pen pals (see March 4, Dear Mr. Postman...).  I did so with this caveat...  Exchange 12 pieces of snail mail each and earn a weekend in Dallas.  Twenty-four pieces of mail later, here we are on the eve of the big weekend.  CSPgrad.student and I have been cruising the town pulling together all the final details (Tera, it feels a little like coordinating a wedding).  I fully expect to do a full recap of the weekend on Tuesday (June 24), the day after everyone shoves out of town.

Until then... suffice it to say, there hasn't been a whole lot of time to lie on the grass, staring up at clouds.  However, due to a VERY unfortunate set of circumstances - on which I will someday report - I did have the opportunity to pause and take this picture.  I'll tease you by revealing that the picture was taken last week (Friday the 13th, to be exact) at an RV lot on the side of the road, about 17 miles outside of Austin.

Knowing that the next few days will be very hectic, let's pay heed to Cheryl... "Deep breaths, happy thoughts."  Take a moment to relax, stare up into this cloud and tell me... what do you see?

Signing off until tomorrow when we will be tie-dying, painting pots, visiting Fort Worth, enjoying a late night swim, eating smores, and maybe - just maybe - hittin' the hay around... midnight.

A few quick comments before the day gets away from me.

Julie... a new Flat Stanley will meet you in Pennsylvania at Tera's wedding. He is being delivered by hand, via a trusted courier.

Bigger or Better... After much deliberation... Maureen's wine has been successfully traded for a Deluxe Box of 20 Edging Scissors, 6 Corner Cutters, and 18 fun Hole Punchers.

I need to add that the Purple Box of Scissors is perhaps the best money I've ever spent.
The corner cutters cut fun designs in two different directions (swoop our or swoop in) and the hole punchers are every shape from a heart, to a flower, to a car.

Perfect for any scrapbooker or just someone like me who LOVES paper.

Claudia have fun with the girls. I know you are in serious need for some "girlie" fun.

I know your days are full but quite honestly Girl Scouts is always short on leaders and you would be an excellent leader. Keep it in mine. I have a total of 30 girls this year and I will have about 48 next year and I have to tell you its nice being important in the life of a child other than your own.

As for the clouds, Im in fear that there is some Psychiatrist out there reading this and I will be taken away any moment now but it looks like:

an adult and a child holding out their hands (like ring-around-the rosie). Ok I said it so come get me.

Hi Claudia its Krysten! I told mom she must be crazy!
If you turn the picture sideways it looks like "spongebob"

Sponge Bob Square Pants.

The cloud is a peacock strutting through the sky, just before he raises his plumage to impress the crowd.

This is totally painful, but I'd be willing to offer my guitar for the Bigger or Better deluxe box of scissors. It is a Cort guitar I bought used - not a well-known brand, but several musician friends have played it and said it has a great sound. It is definately out of tune, though, since I haven't touched it in about two years.

I think that the cloud looks like the Goldfish fish.

As far as bigger or better goes...I have a friend who is a pilot. I'm going to try and remembe to talk to him about free airline tickets. I'll keep you posted and see if there is anything I can do to get one step closer to our free ticket.

Last thing...BEEKAYROOT - how can I contact you? I'm not sure if you got my email when I posted it last week but if you didn't email me at michalsk002@gannon.edu.

The cloud formation to me looks somewhat alien, like an odd shaped Teletubbie on it's side, hands and feet out, cheering in jubilation, and it's a little bottom heavy! That's what I saw!

I like you people!

I agree with Tera a whale or a fish

you people are all crazy! It's obviously two elephants laying on their backs, playing footsy, watching the clouds go by. DUH!

Ok now I feel much better... I am not crazy!! It is all of you that are all "certifiable" !!! And to think I was worried about my answer .

Peggy we like you too! Its a lively crowd here! And dont worry , we wont hold the "Teletubbie" thing against you. We all have off days (ha ha)

Thank you all for making my time folding wash fun!

Looks like a whale to me, too... or a big hand made into a fist. You know how people make a fist and then draw a face on the thumb and index finger and then wiggle the thumb up and down like a mouth to make it "talk?"

Who's crazy now, folks??

I have a trade item for Bigger or Better. It's a 1:24 scale 2008 Jimmie Johnson die-cast car!! And maybe some racing hats as well!

Also...Claudia unfortunately I did not speak one on one with the cupcake woman, but she did offer some insight into her business, so feel free to question away (jenna.camann@gmail.com). :-)

I think the cloud looks a bit like a bunny rabbit. However, the tail is up more on the back of the rabbit as opposed to being in the rear. At least this is the thought that came to me as we were standing in the RV park that day and I can still see it today, too.

Dr. B - Thank you :) I will be awaiting FLAT STANLEY ... although at this point, I feel that Tera and Treye may get him first to take to CA with them on their honeymoon!

As for the picture ... I can see my Dad's influence over me with this one ... I see an eagle eyed view of an INDY 500 open wheeled racing car, but this one has an addition of a parachute coming out the end, like some drag racing cars have. Someone can come take me away now too!

I see PacMan (or Ms. PacMan) in the center of the cloud.
