The Price is Right

What kind of Virtual Baby Shower would this be if we didn't play at least one game?  Thanks to the generosity of Kristen, we have, as an added bonus, a $20.00 Starbucks card for the lucky winner.  Baby shower guests... while you might not currently be drinking coffee, you will appreciate this card months from now when you are sleep deprived!

Rules of the game are simple, and of course open to all party goers - pregnant or not.  Simply review the baby items pictured below and assign the correct price to each item.  The person who gets the most correct wins.  If there is more than one winner, the names of all those eligible will submitted in a drawing.  Your guesses can be emailed to cbeeny@lslog.com.

NOTE: I am sure many of you bargain shoppers will want to dispute my prices or want more detail about size or quantity.  Embrace the ambiguity.  The items were priced at main stream stores, with no coupons in hand.

It's a only a game, so I trust that even the most competitive of you will protect your integrity by not searching the web for answers.

The first graphic in today's post, the infamous "THE PRICE IS RIGHT" symbol, immediately brought a smile to my face! During my college years as an RA, I was one of the main organizers of one of our campus wide events. We put on an annual Price Is Right ... complete with all the original games, a wheel, and a Bob Barker! What fun memories!!!

CKB - do we post our thoughts on prices here, or do we email them to you?

Have a great day HLA! Stay warm and safe in all that nasty weather! Julie and I will try and manage with our 70 degree weather! It will be tough but we will "weather" through it!

All I can say to the baby mamma's, although sleep deprived, enjoy those babies and hold them longer than you should, take more pictures than you can and kiss them everywhere!

When I look back, compared to now, those were easier times...although they cry, and cry and cry... they don't talk back, although the wiggle and squirm and scream, they don't think they know all that! Although they may sleep alot, they sleep alot when they get older too, but they have more stuff that needs to get done, like homework!!!

Agree with Peggy whole heartedly! Tweens, teens, etc are not of this earth! And they are definently the reason in some species that mothers eat their young!
They say that it will get better but I'm not seeing that light at the end of the tunnel yet!

Thanks for the advice for when my young will be older- I have told my father to expect them to coem live with him when they are teenagers- he teaches middle school right now so has a rapport with that age group! Claudia- I will email my guesses to you as well

What's your favorite Baby Shower Game?

Fun game, Cheryl! We will tuck this away and use it at some other point.

Another game I considered doing is asking readers to list as many songs as they could with the name "Baby" in the title. If we were all together in the room, I would make you sing your song when your turn was up.

Peggy... advice given like a true professional!!! I have a teen ager and little ones. Your advice hits home PERFECTLY. Actually, your advice verges on poetic, it is so true.

I just got an email from a friend that you fill out about your first baby. It was funny - I'll forward it without the answers to Claudia. Just remembering being pregnant makes me laugh (and cry). Not to mention those early months - now in a house free of diapers, bottles, etc. I look back with fondness - and a little laughter, especially with my neighbor just starting out on this amazing journey.

I'll email mine!
I also thought of a comment for yesterdays. I realized I'm not really into saving things like fingerprint pictures. I keep them on the fridge for a week or two. Also, I went to an organizing "Smart Martha" seminar and she had a great idea. Keep one box in each child's closet. Each year fill one plastic freezer Ziploc bag with special items-take pictures of special drawings or other things too big. This keeps it manageable with a large family. Then when they leave home they have their one keepsake box to take!

Kristen had a gross game at her shower. I'll let her tell you about it, but I def. was not a fan...and I don't think Julie was either :)

Happy almost weekend to you all. Cassie-face, enjoy your SUPER long weekend!

Nice suggestion, Erica. Anything to simplify or minimize the "stuff" that can accumulate with kids.

Cristine did send me the questionnaire. If we don't use this week, it will surface later in the spring. Promise!

HAHA thanks, tera!

Dr. B, I e-mailed you my guesses to the game!

Technology truly has become completely integrated to our existence, and I think it is safe to say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further develops, the possibility of transferring our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could encounter in my lifetime.
